Ram Booster is a utility that keeps a mininimum amount of memory freed up.
Once you have downloaded it and installed it, click on "edit" and select "preferences".
This will bring up the "Options" screen.
In the "on-off" settings there are 6 options.
In the "Numeric values" the "alarm level" sets the point at which Ram Booster is activated.
This will depend on your RAM size.
A rough idea for 64MB Ram would probably be 5MB increasing pro-rata with the size of your memory.
The "amount of RAM to be freed" could be 10 MB at 64 MB RAM.
The "run only...." I set at 0, which means that the CPU usage detection is not in use.
I set the "refresh interval" to 1 second (default) and 0 times to retry optimization.
These are reasonable values which I have found quite succesful.
Setting the values too high can slow up the computer.
I have used Ram Booster for almost a year now, and have found it invaluable.
